Taiwan - travel day

2 years ago was my first trip to Taiwan, I have thousands of pictures and managed to keep a journal of the trip but never pulled anything together with it. I shared a few pics last trip but nothing that really captured the experience. This time I will attempt to do better.

Travel day is 3 flights roughly 18 hours of flying time to get from KC to Dallas to LA to Taipei then a 30 minute trip by car to Hsinchu. The long flight from LA to Taipei was on Eva Air and they are pretty awesome to fly on, at least in the elite class which is the equivalent of 1st class/business class here in the states, lots of leg room and good meals for a flight with free drinks of all kinds.

Most of the entries will be pictures, click to enlarge
MCI - early flight to Dallas on American, no issue with the flight

cloudy but a pretty smooth flight

Dallas sky rail
it always amazes me how it can be so hard to put bags up and sit down
Dallas flight to LA

coming into LA

LA international
Eva is a great airline to fly on

it was pretty amazing to watch the logistics loading this flight

big planes

wouldn't it be great to just come here and pick where you wanted to go, just pick and go
Walking around the entire LA International terminal was like a walk around the world with people from every corner, I think I could have spent most the day just people watching.

14 hours later we are almost there, um not to scale!

saw several folks get stopped and screened, including Chia-Ru!

getting money is pretty important, more so than getting through customs

visa time - thankfully this line moved pretty quick

11:30pm and bustling

first thing Chia-Ru's mom has out for me, banana off the tree in back!

I ate them all but one, and several what we would call grapefruit, but really sweet

went for a walk at 12:30am, tea eggs at every corner store

this dog was just hanging out in the middle of the street

one of many waterways

night cap before bed, 1am and this place had a steady flow of cusotmers

fresh

tofu, seaweed and onion sort of things, all yummy, less than $3 US dollars
